5 things to do if you think your partner is cheating

think your partner is cheating

What to do if you think your partner is cheating.

We don’t always know if we can trust that gut feeling. Sometimes its anxiety from past experiences that we are still holding onto, sometimes its bang on and we need to follow its guidance. We also don’t want to annoy our partners or come off insecure by constantly asking them where they have been or what they are doing and show signs of dis-trust. Luckily in this day in age if you think your partner is cheating there are some options.

1. Talk with a counselor

Sometimes we have internal baggage and our sense of whats really happening is not always accurate. We may need an outside perspective to see the full picture, therapy can provide a safe environment to speak freely. There are different forms of therapy for this, family counseling is a great start. Before you go, write down any concerns you want to share and emphasize that you think your partner is cheating. This will save you time and money. After your initial appointment it is a good idea to book another appointment for you and your partner, this is when you can let them know you want to work on your relationship and address your concerns about them cheating.

2. Confirm your suspicions using spyware

If you think your partner is cheating, this is a great way to affirm your suspicions in a discrete manner. You could use a Spy phone look up and see who your partner is texting. You may know of an ex they should not be talking with frequently, a current or old co worker that you have suspicions about, or a friend they might be getting too close with. Using spyware is very common, it can be done with zero knowledge of technology and sometimes you do not even need to touch the other persons phone, it can be done remotely. Spyware apps have the ability to view text messages, calls, photos, videos, GPS locations, and emails.

3. Communication

Sometimes our partners do not know our wants and needs, because we have not communicated them in a way they understand. It can go both ways, sometimes we do not know what our lovers need because we do not understand their love language. The 5 love languages is a great way to learn what form of love your partner understands, if you don’t have time to read through the entire book, a quick google search on the 5 love languages will allow you to know what they are, and how to notice them. Just because you feel good receiving words of affirmation, does not mean your partner feels the same way.

4. Keep an eye on their daily habits

We are all creatures of habit, we tend to do the same things day in and day out. A quick change of schedule could be something as simple as a new work demand. However keep an eye out if they seem to be staying at the gym longer than usual, attending more frequent outings with friends, dressing up when they normally do not, or spending more time then normal on their physical appearance. A spark of doing new things at odd times is an obvious give away, taking up new hobbies and not inviting you would be fair to arouse suspicion of what may be going on behind the scenes.

5. Listen More Speak Less

Actions speak louder than words. Do you really listen when they speak? Is eye contact deep or just quick glances? If someone is hiding something, they are usually more tense. Listen not only with your ears but also listen with your eyes, what do you see? What does it feel like? Do they spark conversation? Are they the one calling you? Do they initiate activities with you? Take a break from being the one initiating and just see what happens. If someone is really cheating on you, they probably wont care if the relationship starts to fall apart.

If your partner is cheating it will hurt but its better to know the truth. However, you might be with the person of your dreams, it will still take some work to go through any difficulties. All great relationships take work and all work in relationships can bring a lot of personal growth.
